Days 1 & 2: Goodbye Cyprus, hello Iceland! Getting to know Reykjavík.
We depart from Larnaca airport on the afternoon (16:05) of Sunday, 26th July with a LOT airlines flight and after a 3 hour layover in Warsaw, land at Iceland’s Kefklavik airport at midnight.

The next day is a free one to explore Iceland’s vibrant capital city. Walk Reykjavik’s colorful streets, see the unique Hallgrímskirkja church, stroll around the Old Harbor for panoramic views and to admire the incredible Harpa Concert Hall and the famous Sun Voyager sculpture and grab a street hot dog – one of Iceland’s must-do experiences – or enjoy dinner at one of Reykjavík’s many acclaimed restaurants.

We finish at the powerful Gullfoss waterfall, before driving south to Hella, where we will be staying for the night.

Day 5: South Coast Tour
For those who want to partake, today begins with the unique experience of riding an ATV buggy on Solheimasandur Black Sand Beach and visiting the wreckage of a DC-3 plane wreck that crash-landed on the black sand beach in 1973 (This is an additional optional activity – a 2 hour ride for shared buggy of 2 people – 190€ pp).
For the rest of the day, we begin exploration of the south coast’s dramatic landscapes. Visit two of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls; Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, gape at the jaw-dropping cliffs and lighthouse of Dyrhólaey and walk the famous, black sand beach of Reynisfjara with its incredible, basalt sea stacks.

Is this trip for me?
This trip is for people who like adventure and who like to have fun and to make new friends. It will be a unique experience in one of the world’s most fulfilling destinations! We have no doubts that if you come with a relaxed and positive mindset, you’ll have the trip of a lifetime!
It is important to understand that this is an adventure trip, and as such, there is always an element of the unexpected. Traveling in Iceland is not like staying at the Hilton in London… a lot can happen, from the water in the hotel smelling of sulphur (a typical occurrence in the Land of Ice and Fire), to the food not being as good as your mother’s, to coming across unfamiliar situations…
But it’s good that things are different, otherwise, it wouldn’t be worth leaving home. Also, good weather is unfortunately not a guarantee in a climate like Iceland’s. It can be sunny one minute, windy the next and raining the one after…
It is also important that you know that there may be changes in the itinerary, if we deem it necessary due to unexpected weather. After all, what kind of a trip would it be without some adventure?
If you invite a friend to come on the tour, it is essential that you pass this information on to them. We want to make sure that everyone who comes along is aware of what to expect and that they join us with the right, adventurous mind frame that will create a healthy group dynamic!
What kind of rooms are we staying in?
We will be staying in twin rooms in 3 and 4 star hotels, as well as in a comfortable, Airbnb in the countryside.
If you are traveling alone, you will be paired with another traveler of the same gender.
If you are traveling as a couple, rest assured that you will get your own private room together.
What if I want a single room?
Please inquire about this, but please keep in mind that this is not always possible to arrange and will depend on hotel availability. Please also note the high expenses involved due to Iceland being an expensive country.
Who will be driving the cars?
Your guide, Marcos, will be driving one of the vehicles, while the other two cars will be driven by other members of the group, who feel comfortable to volunteer for this.
Please keep in mind that driving in Iceland is quite simple (even though they drive on the right) as infrastructure is excellent, traffic is calm and drivers are respectful and cautious.
Each car will have 4 passengers, with ideally 2 drivers for each car in order to not overburden one single person.
Petrol costs will be split evenly by everyone in the car.
Is international airfare provided?
Yes, Roady will arrange your return airfare from Cyprus to Iceland (via Warsaw), with LOT (23 kgs permitted).
Can I go alone?
Of course! Most of our travelers sign up individually. They go to Iceland alone and come back with 10 new friends.
Who will I share my journey with?
You’ll spend the trip with our tour leader, Marcos. You’ll also spend all the days with other travelers who have many things in common with you, like a passion for traveling, for adventure, for discovery … and who are looking for new emotions and unforgettable moments on this trip. We normally have travelers from anywhere between 28 to 50 years old and we can assure you that the atmosphere is very fun and that you’ll end the trip with a new group of friends.
What is the exact number of travelers in the group?
It depends on the demand for that specific tour, but minimum 9 and maximum 11.
Is the group of travelers flying together?
Yes, as Roady will be arranging all your flights from Cyprus to Iceland and back.
How do we meet at the airport?
We’ll take the data of all travelers and coordinate beforehand using WhatsApp so that we can arrange to share a ride to Larnaca airport, or to just meet there before flight departure.
Is there an age requirement?
You must be 23 years old or older. However, we try to put together a group, where we feel similar interests will be held. That is to say, similar age groups and dynamics. As a result, we personally speak to all potential travelers to make sure that they fit in with the environment that we wish to create.
Do I need to take any specific equipment?
No, no special equipment is necessary, though hiking shoes would be useful and you will also want to take a waterproof jacket and some layers to keep you warm.
But don’t worry about any of that now! We at Roady, will be sending you a recommended packing list several weeks before departure to help you plan ahead.
Will I have any time for myself?
Of course! We hate tours that book every minute of your day. Our tour will be busy, but there will also be plenty of time to rest and disconnect.
Why are some of the meals not included?
Iceland is an extremely expensive destination. As a result, we like to give our travelers the chance to keep their costs as low as possible. For this reason, we will be cooking together at our accommodation whenever that option is presented to us, in order to avoid eating out all the time and as a result, keeping costs down. We feel that this is also a great way for the group to bond and share an even more memorable trip experience together!
How many spots can I book at one time for the tour?
As many as you want. The maximum number of travelers is 11.
Can I save spots?
No, spots are only effectively reserved after payment.
Any doubts?
If you still have doubts, send us an e-mail at: hello@roadytravel.com
What will the weather be like in Iceland?
July is typically the warmest month of the year in Iceland. Daytime temperatures usually range from 10°C to 15°C, though on some rare warm days it can reach up to 20–25°C. You also enjoy near-midnight sun conditions with around 20 hours of daylight.
Will I get to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights)?
No, you probably won’t be able to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) in Iceland in late July or the very first days of August. That’s simply because the skies don’t get dark enough then. It’s not impossible, but we would say it’s highly unlikely!
But don’t let that get you down! Iceland in summer offers possibilities that winter visitors can only dream of. Long days, higher temperatures, more time for outdoor activities and wildflowers in bloom among others.
Trust us – Iceland in summer is every bit as special than its winter version (if not more)! Come join us and find out!
